No Rulebook

Nonduality doesn’t hand out principles to live by… no commandments, no list of virtues to cultivate, no moral system to build and maintain. That’s just not what this is. Anyone looking for a code of conduct in nonduality is looking in the wrong place.

Look at what’s actually here once the separate self is seen through clearly, and something different shows up. Love, compassion, kindness, tend to appear on their own. Not by effort, discipline, or by trying to be a better person… they show up as what’s left once the sense of a separate someone stops getting in the way.

That’s a real distinction, not a small one. A principle followed is still a self doing the following, still someone working to be kind, measuring themselves against a standard, sometimes succeeding, sometimes falling short, always managing the gap. What’s being pointed to here isn’t that… it’s what remains when there’s no longer a separate one trying to close that gap at all. Compassion without a compassionate person, kindness without someone being kind. Not absent, just no longer owned by anyone.

These qualities were never commandments, they’re just what tends to remain.
